Six-monthly visual inspections

For the removable personal fall arrest equipment covered by this service, formal visual inspections are scheduled at six-monthly intervals in line with AS/NZS 1891.4:2025 and the equipment manufacturer’s instructions.

The six-monthly inspection is additional to the user’s pre-use check before each use.

Equipment must also be removed from use and assessed following a fall-arrest event, suspected damage, contamination or another event that may affect its safety.

Important: This service covers visual inspection within BeSafe’s approved inspection scope. Internal dismantling, specialist repair and manufacturer-authorised servicing are not included unless confirmed in writing.

Frequently asked questions

Planning your inspection

How often does fall arrest equipment need to be inspected?
The removable equipment covered by this service is scheduled for formal visual inspection every six months, in addition to the user’s pre-use check and any additional inspection required by the manufacturer or following an event that may affect the equipment’s safety.
What equipment can BeSafe inspect?
The service covers the equipment categories shown above, including harnesses, lanyards, energy absorbers, connectors, rope grabs and lifelines, temporary anchors and lines, selected fall-arrest devices, tripods, davits and packaged kits. Send us your equipment list before booking so the inspection scope can be confirmed.
What happens when an item does not pass?
The item is assigned an appropriate failed, quarantined or retired outcome and must not be returned to use. The result and reason are recorded in the inspection documentation.
Does equipment need to be clean before inspection?
Yes. Equipment should be supplied clean, dry and accessible. Dirt, paint, chemicals or other contamination may prevent an effective inspection.
