This in-person refresher course is designed for experienced MEWP operators who have previously completed their training and need to maintain their competency and certification currency.

The course provides formal verification of ongoing competency to meet industry, workplace, and site requirements, while reinforcing safe operating practices and current industry expectations.

Delivered face-to-face with practical activities and trainer-led discussions, this refresher ensures operators remain confident and compliant when operating Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs), including scissor lifts and boom lifts.

Refresher training should be completed within three years of your original certification to align with industry best practice and WorkSafe-aligned guidelines.

What You’ll Cover:

• Review of safe MEWP operation and operator responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act
• Risk management, hazard identification, and emergency procedures
• Pre-start inspections and correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Safe operating techniques for scissor lifts and/or boom lifts
• Fall protection requirements and equipment safety checks
• Communication procedures and site safety expectations
• Practical operation and competency verification activities

Course Delivery:

This refresher course is delivered in person at one of our training facilities or onsite at your workplace for group bookings.

Training includes a combination of:

• Trainer-led theory review
• Practical demonstrations and hands-on activities
• Scenario-based discussions and safety exercises
• Practical competency assessment activities using relevant MEWP equipment

Participants must provide evidence of their previous NZQA MEWP unit standard(s) or prior certification before attending the refresher.

Upon successful completion, learners will receive confirmation of refresher training and competency verification aligned to industry requirements.
