Online, face-to-face and practical exercises
Through a series of practical exercises where you will apply and test your knowledge of hazards, risk management and operational skills, you will gain the knowledge and hands on experience to ensure that you understand your responsibilities and have the skills to safely operate the Mobile Elevated Working Platform (MEWP).
Our courses ensure you understand the relevant guidelines, regulations and codes of practice to safely assess and operate a MEWP. They will also help duty holders, such as employers, employees, principals, designers and manufacturers, hirers and suppliers engaged in work associated with MEWPs meet their obligations under the Health and Safety in Employment Act.
MEWP training courses to suit
We can provide the course in a number of ways: your online Mobile Elevated Working Platform Operator course will be followed by a practical session or the full course will be taught by one of our experienced tutors.
The practical session can either be at our training centre in Auckland or we can go to your company if you have a number of trainees enrolled and the relevant machinery. The practical session involves operating relevant machinery to prove competence: you will be required to apply your knowledge of hazards, risk management and operational skills while an assessor verifies your MEWP abilities. Any machinery involving MEWPs can be assessed and there are alternative options available.

NZQA 23966 | Unit | Describe types of elevating work platforms (EWPs), and legislative requirements for their use – 2 Credits
Level 4:
NZQA 23962 | Unit | Assess the worksite, prepare and operate a self-propelled boom lift elevating work platform (EWP) – 5 Credits
After successfully completing this nationally-recognised course you will be trained and competent to operate:
- EWP (Boom Lift) under 11m
- Scissor Lift (up to any height)
- Vertical Lift
