Course Information
This flexible course allows you to complete the theory component online at your own pace, followed by a scheduled in-person practical assessment.
You’ll gain the essential skills and knowledge to safely operate a Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) in accordance with New Zealand health and safety requirements.
You can choose to complete either:

Scissor Lift Only, or
-
Scissor Lift + Self-Propelled Boom Lift
Other MEWP types (e.g. trailer-mounted) are available by request.

Course Delivery:

Theory: Complete online in your own time, interactive modules, and dedicated tutor support via email or phone

Practical: Book a practical assessment at either our Wiri or Albany training centre, or we can come to you for group/company bookings
Applies toOperators of scissor lifts, boom lifts, or similar elevated work platforms across construction, infrastructure, warehousing, and maintenance sectors. Ideal for both new operators and those renewing certification.
Entry Requirements
To ensure participants are adequately prepared for the MEWP training, the following prerequisites must be met:
- For all boom-type MEWP's: Participants must hold NZQA Unit Standard 23229 (Use a safety harness for personal fall prevention when working at height) or equivalent. This ensures a basic understanding of fall protection when operating at height. Evidence is required at enrolment.

Industry Experience: A minimum of six months of relevant work experience in the industry may be required prior to enrolling in this course. This experience ensures that participants have foundational knowledge and practical exposure to the work environment.
