This intensive, hands‑on training equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to safely wear, operate, and maintain compressed air breathing apparatus (CABA) in workplace environments. Covering the full requirements of Unit 25044, learners will prepare, test and recommission equipment, monitor air supply, and implement emergency procedures in simulated hazardous atmospheres.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Describe the safe operation of CABA in accordance with physiological and legal requirements.

  • Prepare, test, recommission, and document CABA equipment and systems.

  • Wear, don, doff and monitor CABA equipment during work in potentially IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health) environments, ensuring safe egress.

  • Implement emergency procedures for entrapment, loss of direction, or injury during CABA use.

What You’ll Achieve:

  • Completion of NZQA Unit Standard 25044 (Level 3, 4 Credits)

  • A nationally recognised credential validating your competence in CABA operations

  • Confidence to perform safely and compliantly when working in hazardous atmospheres

Delivery Format:

  • In‑person training delivered at Besafe Training centres (e.g., Wiri or Albany) or at your workplace by arrangement

  • Includes practical scenarios and assessments in a controlled setting

  • Duration: 1 full day (or as scheduled) with a maximum of 8 participants to ensure hands‑on experience
