The course provides formal verification of currency—evidence that you remain competent and up to date in the safe use of MEWPs relevant to your work.
The refresher course is for individuals who have previously completed NZQA unit standards in Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) operation and are currently active in their role.
Refresher training must be completed within three years of your original training to maintain compliance with industry best practice.
Delivered by one of our experienced tutors, the session reviews key safety practices and includes a practical competency assessment to confirm your skills in operating either a scissor lift only, or both scissor lift and self-propelled boom lift.
What You’ll Cover:
Review of safe operation procedures and current best practice
Site hazards, emergency procedures, and equipment checks
Responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act
Practical re-assessment of MEWP operation

Course Delivery:
Delivered in person at our Albany or Wiri training centre or onsite for company bookings, this half-day course includes a brief theory refresh followed by a practical assessment. It is intended for those who are already operating MEWPs and need formal recognition of continued competence.
This fully online refresher course is designed for experienced MEWP operators who have previously completed NZQA unit standards.
It provides formal verification of currency to meet industry or site requirements.
The course provides a convenient, self-paced option for maintaining your certification, including a review of key safety principles and a requirement to submit evidence of recent practical application of your MEWP skills.
Refresher training must be completed within three years of your original certification to remain compliant with best practice and WorkSafe-aligned guidelines.

Review of safe MEWP operation and responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act

Delivered 100% online, this self-paced refresher can be completed at a time that suits you. Tutor support is available via email or phone throughout your course. To complete the refresher, you must submit:
A completed MEWP pre-start checklist
A completed job log or task summary that demonstrates recent use of the relevant MEWP
Confirmation of your previous NZQA MEWP unit standard(s)
Your submitted evidence will be reviewed by an assessor to verify your ongoing competency.
